RNLI: The lifeboat heroes at the heart of Withernsea's Blue Light Weekend

5th Aug 2023 - 2 minute read

As Withernsea's highly anticipated Blue Light Weekend sails closer, it's time to pay tribute to a remarkable group whose presence will form a key part of the event – the lifesavers at sea, the brave souls of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

The RNLI is renowned for its daring rescues and selfless service to ensure our coastal areas are safe. Rain or shine, calm or stormy seas, its members are always on duty, protecting lives. Their dedication to maritime safety is as deep as the ocean they patrol, but did you know their commitment to community fun and engagement is just as profound?

For the Blue Light Weekend, happening on August 12-13 our lifesaving heroes will be trading their maritime flare for festival flair! They're stepping out of their lifeboats and into the heart of our community event to make it even more memorable, including an intriguing open day at the lifeboat station on the South Promenade and an exercise at sea on Sunday 13th.

The Blue Light Weekend is a time for our community to come together and celebrate, and we want to take a moment to acknowledge and recognise the incredible work of the RNLI heroes who help keep our seas safe.

Let's give them a big cheer and express our gratitude for all that they do. We truly appreciate the RNLI as our guardians at sea, and their presence is sure to make the weekend an event to remember. We're all on board for a fantastic festival weekend!
